Broadband Types Explained

Full Fibre Broadband. Full Fibre is FTTP - Fibre-to-the-premises or FTTH - Fibre-to-the-home. They are all the same product and the delivery mechanism is fibre all the way to your home or business. Full Fibre broadband can deliver speeds from 40Mb/s to 1000Mbp/s down and 10Mb/s to 115Mbp/s up

FTTC Broadband – Fibre-to-the-cabinet. This is delivered via fibre to a green street cabinet with the last leg to your premises delivered on copper. As the copper run is much shorter than traditional ADSL (where the copper goes from your premises back to the exchange) you can get much faster speeds – Up to 80Mbps down and 20Mbps up can be achieved depending on the distance from the cabinet. The copper line is a standard BT pstn line. This allows voice calls to be placed on this line

ADSL Broadband – Offers speeds of up to 24Mbps down and 1.4Mbps up. Delivered over copper from your premises to the exchange. The copper line is a standard BT pstn line. This allows voice calls to be placed on this line.
